This new pricing structure will give many independent eyecare practitioners the same price points that are generally reserved for practices with significantly higher contact lens purchase volumes.
The new pricing structure will go into effect March 15, 2006.Mr. Samir Gad, Imperial Opticals President and C.E.O., said, We made a business decision to level the playing field for independent optometrists who practice in smaller communities where they do not have the patient volume afforded those who practice in metropolitan areas.
We believe the traditional column pricing structure prevalent throughout the industry puts small independent practitioners at a competitive disadvantage.
With our new one-tier pricing structure, all eyecare practitioners, regardless of size or volume, get the same discount pricing we had previously offered only to our highest volume practices. Early feedback we have received regarding this pricing change has been very favorable, Gad continued.
In fact, we made the decision to look into a one-tier pricing structure based on the many conversations weve had with smaller independent optometrists.
Imperial Optical is committed to helping private practitioners be more competitive in a marketplace where large chain stores and Internet retailers with large purchasing power garner significant discounts and pass those savings on to their customers sometimes at prices below what an independent practitioner can buy the same product for. Our new pricing structure certainly does not make us the lowest-priced provider on the market, though we are close for many products.
It does, however, make Imperial Optical the first optical distributor to acknowledge the fact that the traditional column pricing structure based on sales volumes benefits large organizations at the expense of independent optometry.
